argh - are we all unblocked??

Like many other innocent bystanders, I was blocked from posting on my blog. Blogger decided that we am spam because we have too many nonsensical posts. What a nerve! Nonsensical? Can you imagine how depressing that is? Amazing that so many people are reading this nonsense daily. What does that say about all of us? So if we're dealing with nonsense - here is a picture I took as I approached the lovely and talented Tappan Zee Bridge yesterday on my way home from Somers. Traffic was backed up for about 3 miles approaching the bridge and though this doesn't actually look bad, it was. I hate bridges. Rather, I hate driving OVER bridges: I love looking at them because they are either beautiful and graceful or gritty and industrial. I don't mind driving over the Tap because it is low for most of the way and I never feel threatened the way I do on the Bay Bridge or the Throgs Neck or the Verranzno or some others. I don't mind tunnels - but bridges do me in every time. Aside from the Bay Bridge, the Coronado Island Bridge is the WORST. I don't even like to be a passenger on that bridge and I refuse to drive over it. Perhaps I should do a bridge series to rid myself of the panic. Which bridge is it that people get so hysterical on that they have police to drive them over it? What a topic! No wonder I have been classified as spam. Time to make more coffee and see if there is something I can do to distract myself from the SPAM /bridge topics. Actual sewing???

I'm the same way about bridges, but I don't know why. The Bridge Authority at Mackinac Bridge in Michigan will drive people (and their cars) over the five-mile suspension bridge if needed -- and I'd need it, as I'd be on the floor in the backseat, probably crying!

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel is a nightmare, 20 miles long - so long in fact there is a restaurant in the middle! LOL

I HATE driving on it, especially in the rain, at night with on-coming trucks! Yikes!

OMG, aren't those long bridges the worst! I HATE them! Another really scary one is in New Orleans! Those long things just freak me out and scare me silly!

This post has eery timing. One day and one year after the 35W bridge collapse in Minneapolis, MN. Truly scary.

Aren't our phobias interesting? I love bridges, hate tunnels. My sister becomes hysterical on some of the bridges in Portland and thinks she may never come to visit me once I'm moved because she would have to cross over the Fremont Bridge, which is my favorite--very wide, very high. I wonder what early experiences create those phobias. My mother fell and broke her leg when pregnant with my brother and he is terrified of heights.

I had a thing about bridges for the longest time. Whenmy late husband and I would rive down to New Orleans I tell hime to tell me when we were on the other side of Lake Ponsatran(sp) but I got myself out of it by driving back and forth across one of the bridged in KY after my husband died because I knew I'd be stuck in KY for the rest of my life if I didn't get over the fear. Now I will tackle any bridge, breathing a little shallow and with a death grip on the steering wheel. That said, I have been know to go out of my way to avoid the Delaware Memorial Bridge and the Verranzno,i always seem to get stuck in traffic on the George Washington and of late have opted for the Tap, However as I approach the Tappenence I try to be in the middle lane and with any luck havbe two very large truck to be on either side of me so I don't have to focus to much on the water. Happy to see your blog back on line.

Ordinary tunnels are fine with me but the idea of the Chunnel between England and France scares the bejeesus out of me.

I didn't get blocked, so maybe my comments are ok.
