week's end

It was a joyful, busy, non-stop week in my house -- and I had the pleasure of spending time with all three of my children and all five of their children -- some of them, more than once.  Rare, indeed. Next week everybody goes back to work/to school/to football practice and hectic schedules.

I took Emma, Jessica, and Tommy back to Brooklyn today and am now getting used to the quiet again: a double-edged sword.  I will miss this child, but it is time to get back to real life.
It is very late and I am still in my sewing room, playing around with redone blocks. But my head is elsewhere and I am not feeling very inspired. These unfinished samples will have to do, for the moment.

Tomorrow night I should make additional progress.  For now - time to get a night's sleep!

hmm they look a bit scattered - but then again that's how vocations are huh?! So glad you had a good time and got to reconnect. I'm sure gettin' back to the routine will inspire you along. Besides I have to work hard this week in my studio - you need to push me along (grin)! I'm sorry to see summer go though - aren't you?

What an adorable photo of Emma! She looks so grown up!

I'm sure your double-edged sword cuts right into your heart at times like this. I know it does that for me when our family leaves - and I have Craig here to rattle around with. I don't envy you that quiet.

On a far brighter note: I love your bottom assemblage of blocks! Reminds me of the lovely beach houses in the Caribbean! We are expecting grandchild number 2 in December. Of course, they are not finding out the gender ahead of time, so I won't be doing any quilting in advance for this one either. GRRRR! The nursery furniture is BLACK!!! I'm not sure how I feel about that either....but it's not my baby (I've bitten my tongue just about completely off this past week!!!). So, I'm planning a very interesting Rayna-inspired quilt with black and white polka dots...and then other wild and crazy colors!

Warm Hugs to You!!!
