surfaces

This is the state of my sewing room.  The blue suitcase has still not been unpacked from when I got home 10 or 12 days ago.  It is full of fabrics I have to unload and then decide whether I will repack it or try and squeeze the fabrics and my clothing into one large bag. The red thing in front is my carry-on bag, probably partly empty. What a mess!

This is the state of my dining table.  I cleaned it off after last Monday's seder and hen had to load it up again with quilts to be sorted, tagged, and labeled for my exhbit in North Carolina.  It doesn't look organized, but I know exactly what is in each pile and what needs to be done. Some of these will go to Georgia with me on Friday for my program in Athens.
Lest you think I am a complete disaster, I will show you that there is one surface in this house which is so clear of STUFF that my weekend visitors nearly fainted when they walked into the kitchen.
So there you have it.  True, it hasn't looked like this since 2008 -- but one out of three ain't bad.
Cheers!
R.

Pleased to see that I am not the only one who works in organised chaos.

I think you should host an ugliest sewing room contest. We could post to flickr and vote. Maybe some kind company would donate new furniture.

I feel your pain! My mess is not with fabric and unpacked suitcases, but with tools and remodeling stuff! I have tools piled up in the living room including saw horses, a ladder, and an air compressor, tools in the bedroom on another set of saw horses and a ladder, cabinet doors and a ladder in the hall and office, and yes another ladder, number four, in the downstairs foyer. My house looks like a construction site! You will get to the stuff when you are ready just as I will. I have been trying to clean up at least one thing a day and I know eventually the mess will be cleaned up. Take care!

Hope you have a happy trip to Athens (GA, that is) Fortunately, or unfortuately, all the disorder will wait until you get home. I'm not sure mine will every get cleaned up. Pity whoever will inherit it! Love, Del

Haven't done a stitch for months, I just can't get myself to do it in winter any more. So I'm trying hard to compensate with my painting corner and maybe top your working space by the number of items per square foot.
