Day one London

We spent the day walking our feet off, having a lovely time of it.  Met my cousin Maggie for lunch and she caught meup on her life and some family research she has been doing.  Here we both are, having been married to two men whose grandmothers were sisters and who did not know each other existed till I found Marty's cousin on a genealogy site a decade ago.  The men died within a month of each other, but Maggie and I consider each other family.

After lunch, Maggie went her way and we went ours -- walking miles through London.  Some random pix.  Here I was the royal households stable and the guy standing guard, posing for photos.  There was a mob, so we moved on.

Covent Garden, with its markets and entertainment.
Taxi parked in the middle of the street. Cute.

Big Ben.Parliament.  Always makes me think of Chevvy Chase --LOL.
The London Eye, on the South Bank where we will go tomorrow.  But you will not get me on that thing.

The bridge  across the river, which moves when you walk across it.

And the signs in the street, which have their own charm.

I especially like this one, at the park near Charing Cross station.

More tomorrow.

Thanks for sharing it has been 15 years since I've been to London... but I loved it!

Rayna, get on the eye if you have a clear day. It's not scary and quite brilliant. Love the way you take photos of the everyday UK in the way I do whenever I go to another country. Fantastic.
