caffeine and sugar

A recipe for staying up late?  Well, so far the caffeine seems to be wearing off -- but it is quite late (or early, as the case may be).

To distract myself from all this estate stuff during the day, I have been treating myself to a re-org (for a change) of the sewing room.  I spent my nights emptying the rolling bins where everything  was buried under everything else; sorting, and then putting them neatly into 7 lovely stackable drawers.

LOL - these were hand-me-ups from my grandsons, who have outgrown the Ninja Turtles and pajamas that previously occupied the containers.   What didn't fit there is going into the stackable rolling bns and other plastic boxes.

Lo and behold, as I dug, I discovered an entire bin of my hand-printed fabrics.  I wondered where they were.
A drawer for Handloom Batiks and a random other Indian batik or two.
Wow! I actually have a drawer of black& whites and neutral prints.Who knew?
And a place for my non-Usha batiks and a miscellaneous fabric or three.

Now, of course, the trick is to find the time to actually use some of these beauties. Before I can do that, however, I need to deal with the horizontal surface that purports to be my cutting/ironing space.

That remains for tomorrow.  Fortunately, I can sleep late because I don't have an appointment in the morning.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with a mess! I just push fabrics to one side to clear off a space on the cutting table!

I am inspired! Just need more time to actually reorganize. Not only does my studio need it, but the garage is sadly overdue for a thorough clean out. I kept promising myself I would do it this summer, just haven't had enough time to get out there and do it! Sigh...

I love unearthing gems. Gives you some one on one time with forgotten treasures....LOL Lots of work but it will be well worth it when your done. But of course then you won't remember where you moved the stuff to. And the cycle will start all over again.
Love your work.

Love that the mighty fall into chaos as well as the meek...figuratively of course! I have to pat myself on the back. I have bought no new fabric for months! And Craftsy class purchases have stopped as well. BUT I have ordered a book...and it will set me back a pretty penny or two. Never mind...it is a good one...and as of the beginning of next week I qualify for the pension so thank you to the government for that!
How are the new specs? Looking forward to seeing a picture of you wearing them.

I'm sure it's a natural law of the universe that creativity and mess go hand in hand.....anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Your art space is not so different from mine. Piles of fabric that need to be put away.

Archeology in your own home! What a wonderful stash. And the view of your working space reminds me a bit of what I pile up in our living room until it is time for supper and my husband says: "Now store away your toys!" Toys, ha!
With such treasures, I couldn't wait to start lots of new projects! Hope we'll see these pieces in use some time from now!
