I ran into the studio for a few minutes today to pick up some fabrics for another piece I'm working on and ended up asking "what if?" for the background and then for the two leftover triangles at the top.
It's silly and trite and lopsided and I'm close to (as they say around these blogs) sticking a fork in it.

It's often difficult to see clearly something you've just made. This quilt made me laugh, just for the sheer fun and exuberance of it.
It kind of reminds me of a lopsided castle. Maybe as the last commenter mentioned, it will look better with some distance.
It's fun!
Put the fork away .... it's important to "take it to the end", even if you don't feel it's working the way you want at the moment!
I'm of the opposite camp of thinking .....stick a fork in it if you want to. I don't think all of our experiments or "swatches" need to be taken any futher than we want to, There is so much to be learned by just playing around.
It's very whimsical - I like it!
It's really an example of what you can do with traditional blocks (blue and yellow Ohio Star chopped up and recombined), which will make a good example for my students. I think I will finish it and be done. Not everything has to be a masterpiece, right??
Why trite? Why not just campy? Not everything has to have a deep subtext. The colors are great, the details are entertaining. go with it! cheers, Claire W.
"Emma's Castle" still under the influence of that sprite!!! Finish it and use it to show how our subconscious affects our work..........
