London day two

Granted, a whole blog of photos is the easy way out, but our Internet service here is beyond spotty and I do what I can do.  Yesterday we went to the South Bank and started by walking across the Jubilee Brridge .  lovely.
The plan was to go to the Tate Modern, but first we walked and walked and walked and then walked some more, taking a long detour because of all the building going on in the area.  Luxury condos and skyscrapers sprouting.  But along the way, visual joy.  Empty today, but often filled with skateboarders.
A mural.
Grit.
We went to the special Klee exhibit at the Tate Modern, which was umpteen rooms and what seemed like hundreds of paintings.  But it was such a mob scene that we couldn't get close to most of the works, which were quite small.  Afterwards, we went up to the Members' Lounge and had tea and cake and looked at the view across the Thames.
That made us think we should go over to St. Paul's.  I had been there 50 yrs ago but my travel companion had not.  So we walked back over another bridge, where we had a view of the Shard (on the right) and the Tower Bridge in the center.
Actually, the view ON the bridge was more interesting.  I remember years ago, reading a description of a woman with hair "an improbable shade of red."  Here it was.
And here was an artist at work.
And here, just a couple more from the day.
Today, Saturday, a day of relaxing with David and Marlene.  We have had enough walking for a while!  By the time we get to Paris, we should be in good shape.

Hi Rayna

What an adventure... and then on to Paris! How long are you traveling? Is this a holiday or is there teaching involved?
Thanks for sharing.

Wow! You packed a lot in to your day. I was thinking of going to the Klee exhibition, maybe later when the crowds have died down a bit. That skatepark is under threat from redevelopment :-( I like the texture photos you've collected and that red hair was wild but fun :) Enjoy your day today whatever you are doing.

When in Paris you would enjoy La Tour Paris 13 a whole building of graffiti to be demolished the end of Oct. Rue Fulton, 12 to 8 daily. Doing it next week with my teen grandchildren. Google it to see the delights, my son calls it Anti-Louvre art. Enjoy your blog very much sorry I lurk mostly.
