Don't ask!

Yes, I have been away from the computer.  I had great difficulty blogging from my iPad - especially with ios7, which I made the mistake of downloading.  I hate it but there is no going back.  So, I gave up.  THEN, the server which hosts my website and my Studio78 email was down so frequently and for so long that I did not get emails and had trouble sending, as well.  As a result, I have been taking a rest from blogging while I changed servers.  All is ok now, but geesh!!!!!!!!!!

So here is the post I first wrote what seems like eons ago.  Do you even care, by now??

This was such fun.  What I discovered (I learn something new every time I teach) was that this UFO workshop not only lets people give new life to old dogs and frees them up to play, they actually learn composition as they decide how the newly invented blocks should go together. I really think this is my favorite class to teach.

Here are a few before and afters, although I did not get them all and Blogger has been so recalcitrant that I gave up trying to post.

Enough for now and time to move on.

I am looking forward to leaving for London and Paris for a REAL vacation. Can't remember the last time I took two weeks away from everything.  Last time I was in England was in 2010 and it was a working vacation -- with the poignancy of a sick husband ticking off the next-to-last thing on his bucket list and then teaching at FoQ in Birmingham.  This will be different: a visit with friends and family in England and my French branch of the family on my mother's side, in Paris.

I will try to blog while I am there, but if Blogger on the iPad with ios 7 gives me grief you will know that is why you are not seeing posts. Honestly, I would advise you not to  download this new OS that got such raves from the tech critics. Bleh.

P.S. If you are in the New York area, you should know that the international artist, noted author and teacher Cécile Trentini, is having an exhibit of her amazing work at the Art Quilt Gallery on 25th St. in Chelsea on Monday, November 11 from 6-7:30.  Not only that, she is teaching at City Quilter over the weekend, November 9-10 and there are still a couple of spaces left if you hurry.

I'll be at her opening and hope to see you there, too!

Good to hear from you Rayna, isn't technology great until it doesn't work? It's interesting to see your students before and after pictures, thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful vacation!

Sorry to hear of your tecchie woes! I'm sticking to my laptop and tracfone... less stress! Do enjoy your much deserved vacation, and I hope you can blog while you are there, but on second thought, turn off the gadgets and gorge yourself on enjoying the trip, then you can tell us all about it when you return home! Bon Voyage, mon ami`! And that's pretty much all the french I know! ;-)

Have a good holiday! I hope you enjoy your time here and in Paris.

I love the changes to the first block you show in this post. The result really looks like birch trees in an Autumn wood. wonderful.

Didn't your students do well! You would not believe the improv quilts came from such traditional pieces. I have downloaded iOS7 too but havn't yet tried blogging from fit, joys to come by the sound of it! Have a fabulous holiday x

Always good to hear from you, Rayna! Have a really terrific time in London and Paris! Your horror story about ios7 make me glad I have neither iPhone nor iPad (nor anything "I" for that matter, still being a devout PC user). Have fun, be safe. xoxo
