as promised
A post tonight - but a quickie one. Stayed home today, printed 3 more scarves (that still need more layers) and stitched this canvas to stretchers and will hang it on the studio wall.
I took this one, plus another that I did at the same time several years ago when I treated myself to a workshop with Fran Skiles. I revisited the canvases, which had been rolled up in the corner forever, and liked what I saw.
My art crit group liked it too, and I think I will revisit working on canvas with more mixed media to see what happens.
My camera was not taking good pictures tonight, but I wanted to share this piece that Rachel Leibman brought with her. It is collage. Sorry for the flash, but the non-flash one came out fuzzy. Susan Lisbin brought her latest sculpture -- a mixed media piece that is very interesting and lyrical. Here, she is explaining how she made the piece, which contains the back of a chair - repurposed. Susan is great at doing that and she is a wonderful painter.

Oh I love Rachael's piece - the curves are so pleasing. Plus all that texture she gets with the patterns is great!
Oh, I love this canvas. I looked at it for a long time, trying to find out which signs are coincidence and which are deliberately put. Can't tell!
Revisiting old work is a great idea. Sometimes you look at work you haven't seen for a while and wonder why didn't I follow this idea. Great inspiration!!!
You inspire me to go back to my old canvasses...sometimes I feel they stare at me accusingly for having forgotten them!! I love Rachel's piece and am totally caught up by the sculpture piece...
That is not anonymous ..thats me Sujatha ...I dont know how I hit the anonymous button!!
Well at least you didn't roll the canvasses back up and stuff them in the corner again. Returning to previous work is hard for me to do when I feel I know so much more now (that was feel not necessarily know so much more now).
Very cool sculpture.
