Beverly Fine said this show was so far superior to Art Basel Miami that it was incredible. There was lots of stuff to look at --
Some quite good, and a fair amount of "WHY???" like this wall of suitcases for I forget how many $$$ thousands. As usual, very little fiber. Thank goodness, Brown Grotta had a booth. Bev and I managed to sneak a couple of shots when Grotta was talking to someone. The photo policy was up to each vendor and most couldn't have cared less. I can't recall who made this fiber installation
But it was lovely. Apart from the fiber, the best was a huge installation that was whimsical and a delight. Everything was cleverly made of recycled materials Like this horse of corks
Or flower made of rubber
Flip flops.
Or another flower of plastic forks and wood sticks.
Or this one of toilet brushes &shoe laces.
All in all, a fun day! Rayna - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Loved strolling the show with you! Nothing like seeing a horse's arse made of cork to set the day off. Great show, and nice to catch up with everyone. Have a safe trip home.
A good lot of humor in modern art! Thank you for daring to take pictures. A treat! I sometimes wonder why they won't allow pictures. Is it because they hope to sell reproductions? It would be much wiser to allow the spreading of images and the publicity they can get this way. A few more sold postcards cannot cope.
found the hanging circles little machine embroidery artist here: http://browngrotta.com/Pages/bijlenga.html. There is a whole page on the browngrotta site with just the artists exhibiting in the show including the 'buttonhole stitch' sculptures you kept me from stealing...
Interesting show and I'm sure it was lots of fun.
Enjoy the warm weather down there for me!

I'll never look at my toilet brush the same again. ;)
I just love art from recylced stuff--makes me look at objects in new ways. Those flowers were very cool.
How long are you in Florida? The longer you stay the harder it will be to return to snowy NJ--just a little reality check notice. *wink*
loved that horse....especially the tail!
xo
Is this in West Palm Beach?
Thanks for sharing. You are quite an adventurer!
I think you will make some wonderful contacts in South FL. I can see you teaching your "deconstructed" classes to a whole new audience!
What a wonderful group of usual art using unusual materials. What fun. The scope of creativity out there never ceases to amaze me. Thanks for sharing.
