a colorful day

In the studio bright and early this morning to get the air conditioning running before class started. My studio class today was Soy Wax Batik and it was a joy.  Part of the pleasure was the small size of the class: four people -- all of whom are experienced in surface design.  Two of them had taken a batik workshop with me several years ago and wanted to do it again; the other two had never worked with this process before and had a great time with it.  Here are just a few of the pieces this over-achieving group produced.

Nancy used this process to "save" some of her bland commercial fabrics.

Here is  a piece of Joan's fabric before she ironed it. it turned out to be fabulous.

Debbie and Jane brought t-shirts to batik: this is Jane's.

After this class, Debbie has about 100 more things to be cheerful about. This is one of them.
Everybody went home happy with their fabrics and I will finish cleaning up on Wed morning. Skipped the gym today and came tome to put my feet up.

Stay tuned for a studio class schedule as I put it together.

Hi Rayna,
Any chance you'll be doing any more studio class days before the end of the summer?
Would still love to meet you and get you to sign your book!
