coffee break

A coffee break would be fine, except it is 10:30 at night and this is not decaf. What kind of person makes a cup of strong coffee at this hour? A masochist? An optimist? I'm hoping it will give me a little boost so I can stay up and continue to stare at the fabric on the floor and on the chair, looking for inspiration. Or, I can stay up and look at THIS! My laptop, accessorized with the pile of stuff which just fell on the floor and I hastily retrieved. Beneath the cut-up onion bag is a somewhat diminished pile of papers I was working my way through all day. Yes, I was in my studio, but not doing what I wanted to do. The laptop is now on my lap and my feet are where the laptop was, but I will not bother with a picture. I just finished giving a tutorial on gelatin printing to a friend of mine who lives on the other side of the world in a place where they may not have colorless gelatin, but might have Jello. I told her to buy lemon flavor, so we'll see what happens next. The coffee has kicked in enough for me to finish this, but not enough for me to do anything creative. Tomorrow. I promise.

Yummm.. edible fabric! I'm intrigued by this gelatine printing but haven't followed all the emails about it so I stay intrigued...

Your laptop looks just like mine!! and I'm spending too long on mine at the moment...

There is something in the air. Suddenly, I have found myself wanting to start working at 10 p.m. and before you know it, it is 2 p.m. Woke up very early today so maybe the impetus will change schedules....but you gotta work when you gotta work...so coffee at night, yeah, it's a good thing.

Mary - can't deal with problem-solving till morning coffee, and I slept till 9 this morning (big surprise). I love the Citra-solv method; never print on treated fabric. A bottle of that stuff (whatever it is called) has languished on my shelf for years.

Liz- ditto on too much laptop time.
And Gabrielle - I'm a morning person, but some of my best work is done late at night.
Off to have morning coffee...

Heck with all the timing problem-solving and design issues. (morning person, myself. I can't see well enough at night to do much work).

Where did you find that cool mug??

the mug, along with another cool one - gifts from my daughter Jessica. Then there's the one my son gave me in 1980 that says "Happy Divorce." And my prize ones from the Owl Diner in Lowell, MA.
